Do you believe that social inequity is always wrong, or that it's only wrong when it's inappropriately administered (usually, this means you're on the wrong side of the fence)? This is a serious question. Put another way, do you believe there should be two-tier health and education systems, or single tier systems? And if this question is an oversimplification, how am I in error? I can't think of many people who would prefer a two-tier system when their socioeconomic position would consign them to the lower tier.
This is a response to the Liberal government's unprecedented (in recent memory) control of both houses of parliament. There are many aspects of the present Liberal government I find reprehensible (racism, snobbery, a sordid relationship with the media) but this apparent dedication to social inequity is simultaneously the most reprehensible and most incomprehensible aspect of it. |
